Independent audio fiction · Worlds heard in the dark

Stories that begin when the lights go out.

Creative Directive creates sound novels: intimate, voice-led narratives where performance, music, and environmental sound carry listeners into carefully built science-fantasy worlds.

Current production: Template #2, a 74-minute opening chapter set beneath a failing artificial moon.

The form

What is a sound novel?

A sound novel is a complete narrative designed for listening, combining the intimacy of an audiobook with the spatial detail of audio drama and the deliberate pacing of literary fiction.

Each release can be experienced on its own. The public lore archive rewards curious listeners with histories, terminology, and character records—without being required reading.

“In the Meridian, every oath leaves an echo—and every echo remembers who spoke first.”
Archivist’s proverb, origin uncertain

Featured universe

The Ashen Meridian

A ceremonial empire survives around a silent star, preserving its machines as relics and its memories as legal testimony.

Cycle I · The Unlit Court

A kingdom governed by remembered voices

The people of Lethra inherit no written law. Instead, trained Witnesses preserve judgments in living memory, repeating them at each eclipse before the doors of the Unlit Court.

When a forbidden voice appears in the archive, a novice Witness must decide whether it is evidence of a buried crime—or a message from the star the empire declared dead.

From the public archive

Short records provide context for listeners while preserving the mysteries at the heart of each release.

Organization · The Ashen Meridian

Template #3

Custodians of spoken law, funeral memory, and the empire’s most dangerous unverified testimonies.

Members surrender their family names on initiation and carry a recording seal cut from black mineral glass. The order is respected in public and feared in private: a Witness may challenge even a sovereign if an older voice contradicts the throne.
